Harold E. Holt Communication Station VLF Towers reviews
We were surprised to find out that the main tower (387m) is actually taller (only just) than the Empire State Building. Supposedly they repaint one tower per year. This area once operated with American dollars! (so we were told).
One of the most bizarre installations on Earth, looks like a space station. Despite the HAARP controversies, it is used for communication with submarines in Indian and Pacific ocean, using the very low frequency (VLF) waves and very strong transmission power (1 MW, highest in southern hemisphere). Truly a special place.
Stationed there in73/74 work special services wit Don King and the gate never saw ET
