Have been to these two places many times, easy drive up from Brisbane, excellent accommodation to be found, great beaches, some nice restaurants and outside of the usual school and public holidays fairly quiet and easy to get around. …
Expensive, rude people, tourist information service lady was unkowledgeable & unhelpful.... changed for the worse since I was up there in the late 60's. 1770 slightly better. Not recommended.

The information center was very helpful. The staff gave us great local knowledge and provided us with maps and brochures. They also had a good selection of local souvenirs. The towns of Agnes Waters and 1770 were beautiful. We highly recommend visiting The Rusty Pelican for the great food.
I have been to Agnes Waters and 1770 multiple times. It is an easy drive up from Brisbane and there are plenty of great accommodations to choose from. The beaches are beautiful and there are some nice restaurants. It is usually quiet and easy to get around, especially outside of the busy holidays.
The tourist information service at the center was expensive and the staff were rude. The lady we spoke to was unhelpful and didn't seem knowledgeable. It was a disappointing experience, especially compared to when I visited in the late 60's. 1770 was slightly better, but overall not recommended.
