Last breeding season I visited Abundant Layers every time one of my hens went broody. Which turned out to be very often as I purchased over 45 (day old) chicks. My daughter had great fun picking chicks and looking after them. We expanded into a new chicken coop and run this year so have plenty of space for the extra hens and rooster. The chicks have all grown into healthy and beautiful hens. The staff at Abundant Layers were always helpful and knowledgeable when I had questions about raising the chicks. Overall, a great experience and I would highly recommend Abundant Layers for anyone looking to expand their flock.
Do not purchase birds. We purchased 2 older hens which have infected the rest of our flock. I am assuming they are infected with gapeworm but am not 100%. Definitely carrying some form of virus or infection. A complete waste of time and money. Now we have to treat our entire flock for parasites and potentially lose some hens. Very disappointed with the quality of birds at Abundant Layers.
So I've purchased Pullets and 8wk olds here now. Was Assured they were all female. First time was able to do an Exchange. Second time, no mention of a policy change when I collected the 8wk olds. He knew I live in Suburbia, so no roosters. I suppose he doesn’t want to deal with the returns. One of the pullets shown in the below photographs is a roo. I didn’t want to wait for the full blown crowing in the neighbor hoot-n-hollered at me. Now I will have to do the Neighborhood Chicken Dance.
